The tarot cards hold the secrets of everyone's destiny. But how to use them? The author, a great specialist in cartomancy, clearly presents this fascinating traditional game to us. He studies each of the cards, separately (what are their meanings, their prediction meaning) and in combination with the other cards in the game. He describes in detail the major arcana, their symbol, their positive or negative value, times and places suitable for drawing. He analyzes the minor arcana, their position...
Finally, it clearly sets out the real rules of fortune telling, the real game of divination, oracles ... A book + set of 78 cards set that will allow you to contemplate the present and the future with serenity and confidence.
Laura Tuan studied Sanskrit and your Eastern religions, and has devoted herself for many years to parapsychology and esotericism. She is the author of numerous books for Éditions De Vecchi, including Le Grand Livre des sciences occultes.
Book's extract :
A STORY AS OLD AS THE WORLD
The origin of tarot cards is practically unknown; it is lost in the mists of time, beyond the boundaries of myth. In fact, it was from pre-romanticism and romanticism with the triumph of philology and archeology that the supposed “invention” of the tarot cards began an increasingly marked return to very ancient initiatory origins.
Tarot cards were then only accessible to a small minority, at the cost of difficult challenges to overcome.
Some, like the philologist Court de Gébelin, considered that the tarot cards were the fruit of Egyptian civilization. Others, like Abbot Ephilas Levi, occultist and esoteric researcher, highlighted the analogy between the twenty-two major arcana and the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet. For some, tarot cards originated in India where, 100 years BC. BC, a game of round cards representing the ten incarnations of the god Vishnu was very successful.
Others saw it as a legacy of ancient oracles, the product of the bohemian imagination or even the last legacy of a mysterious and vanished civilization: the mythical Atlantis to which Plato alluded in one of his famous dialogues.
However, and whatever the civilization at the origin of the tarot cards, the essential lies in the religious and symbolic meaning which underlies each card so as to constitute a complete cycle, a sort of initiatory poem which revolves around a long process of purification and internal evolution. Indeed, if we consider the deep symbolism of the blades, it is not difficult to recognize in them the bases of Western esotericism, the laws of magic of the ancients synthesized in the famous "emerald tables" attributed to Hermes Trismegistus: “On earth as in heaven, above as below; a part represents the whole, the whole includes two poles, one masculine and the other feminine; the extremes touch, etc.”
