A refined reproduction of one of the most enigmatic masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance, the Mantegna Tarot (Lo Scarabeo, 2000) presents 75 cards inspired by the famous 1470 engravings traditionally linked to Andrea Mantegna but now attributed to Michele Parrasio of Ferrara.

Far from a traditional tarot, this deck is a visual encyclopedia of medieval and Renaissance thought: human conditions, arts, sciences, virtues, celestial spheres, and divine principles.
Lo Scarabeo’s edition includes the original 50 symbolic plates plus 25 additional cards, expanding the system for meditation and divination.

Early Lo Scarabeo editions of the Mantegna Tarot have become increasingly rare, especially complete with booklet. Printed for only a short period, this edition preserves the delicate Renaissance engravings and includes the distinctive 25-card expansion available only in early Scarabeo printings.

Because production numbers were limited, well-kept sets like this one are now scarce and highly valued by collectors of historical and artistic divinatory decks.
