The Oswald Wirth Tarot occupies a special place in tarot history because it bridges the gap between the traditional Tarot of Marseille and the French occult revival of the late nineteenth century.

Wirth collaborated with influential occult circles and drew inspiration from the teachings of Stanislas de Guaita, one of the leading figures of French esotericism. His deck transformed the tarot into a symbolic system intended not only for divination but also for philosophical and spiritual study.

The 1982 U.S. Games edition is particularly desirable because it represents one of the earliest American publications authorized by Wirth's successors. For Pierrick Pinot, tarot represented both:

• a symbolic vessel capable of carrying the seeker toward inner illumination;
• and a hidden language whose mysteries reveal themselves only through sincere study and practice.

The project began after Pinot discovered Oswald Wirth's "Tarot des Imagiers du Moyen Âge" in 1978. What started as a personal redraw of Wirth's deck gradually evolved into one of the most distinctive handcrafted French tarot editions of the twentieth century.

Entirely made and pierced by hand, this beautiful wooden game board originates from Calalzo di Cadore, in the Belluno province of the Dolomites, a region renowned for its long tradition of woodcarving and folk craftsmanship.

The board is richly adorned with openwork scrollwork and numerous fleur-de-lys motifs, repeated across the playing surface and on the original white playing pieces. Beneath the board, a practical drawer system with original compartments stores the complete set of counters.
