🔸 Title: Taromantic – Jeu Divinatoire du Tarot de Marseille
🔸 Publisher / Brand: Grimaud / France Cartes
🔸 Year: 1987
🔸 Place of publication: France
🔸 Type: Educational / tutorial tarot deck
🔸 Tradition: Tarot de Marseille (simplified system)
🔸 Cards: 26 cards total
🔸 Contents:
– 22 Major Arcana
– 4 Aces (Minor Arcana)
🔸 Card size: 64.5 × 122 mm
🔸 Language: French
🔸 Box: Original blue tuck box with printed back pattern
🔸 Made in: France
The Taromantic is a simplified instructional version of the traditional Tarot de Marseille, designed as an accessible learning tool for beginners and students of cartomancy.
Each card includes printed meanings directly on the card, along with interpretive notes influenced by neighboring cards, allowing the reader to understand interactions and combinations without memorization. This makes the Taromantic both a didactic tarot and a practical reading deck.
The deck focuses on clarity, structure, and pedagogy, offering a straightforward introduction to Marseille symbolism while preserving its essential archetypal language. Often described as a “tarot tutorial in card form,” it was produced during a period when French publishers emphasized educational divination systems.
🔸 Condition
Cards are in very good condition, clean and well preserved.
The original box shows visible wear and small tears consistent with age and use, dated 1987 (see photos).
🪶 Collector’s Note
The Taromantic (1987) occupies a distinctive place in modern French tarot history as a bridge between traditional Tarot de Marseille imagery and late-20th-century pedagogical cartomancy. Published by Grimaud, it reflects a period when tarot was increasingly taught as a structured language rather than an intuitive art alone.
Because meanings are printed directly on the cards, complete sets in good condition are increasingly sought after by collectors, educators, and beginners looking for historically grounded learning decks. A concise, honest, and intelligently designed tarot — now out of print.

Printed in a strictly limited edition of only 200 copies, this piece belongs to the world of artist books and independent printmaking, rather than conventional tarot production.

Originally created between 1643 and 1664, this deck predates and differs from the more standardized Marseille tradition. Its imagery carries a raw, archaic charm — closer to the early roots of cartomancy, where symbolism was still fluid, regional, and deeply expressive.
This 2016 reproduction (now out of print) was carefully produced from original woodblock cards preserved at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, capturing the texture, imperfections, and soul of the historic prints.
Unlike modern decks, the Vieville tarot presents unique iconographic variations — offering a fascinating alternative lineage for collectors and serious tarot historians.

In the 2007 edition the cards have a much better quality than the first print of 1998. Unlike the first edition, they are covered with a protective gloss coating, the colors come out much better.
In addition, the protective cover is much more elaborate than with the first edition.
In the booklet the reader finds everything he needs to know, in addition to the information in the old Röhrig-Tarot book.
Carl W. Röhrig is a genius with an almost incredible theme that extends to all areas of life. Tarot cards are only a small part of Röhrig's extensive work. His images are surreal, reminiscent of Dalí, in many cases they have an obvious or subliminal erotic component, but this does not seem profane. Based on the images, it is very possible to dream in foreign worlds and extract valuable impulses for everyday life from them. Tarot, in the sense of Röhrig, is not only a game of divination, but it opens the door to discover secrets in life.

🔹 Tarot de Besançon by Dr. Valerio Verrea
🔹 First limited edition, hand-numbered 254/500
🔹 Published by Anima della Terra, Italy (2021)
🔹 Complete deck of 22 Major Arcana
🔹 Includes the original multilingual booklet
🔹 Original deluxe two-piece presentation box
🔹 Official deck of the Accademia di Tarologia Anima della Terra
The Tarot de Besançon is Valerio Verrea's faithful restoration and reinterpretation of one of the most fascinating historical tarot traditions of the eighteenth century. Based on the rare Besançon pattern created by Jean-Baptiste Benois, this edition preserves the distinctive iconography that replaces the Pope and Popess with the classical deities Jupiter and Juno, reflecting the influence of the Protestant Reformation across Switzerland, eastern France, and southern Germany.
Rather than simply reproducing a historic deck, Verrea carefully restores the artwork while presenting it as a modern tool for tarot study and personal exploration. The deck retains the traditional Marseille structure while offering a unique symbolic perspective through its distinctive archetypes.
Only 500 copies of this first edition were produced, each individually hand numbered. This example is No. 254/500.
🪶 Collector's Note
The Tarot de Besançon occupies a special place in tarot history alongside the classic Marseille tradition. While sharing the same overall structure, its replacement of the Pope and Popess with Jupiter and Juno gives the deck a unique historical and symbolic identity. This beautifully produced, hand-numbered edition by Dr. Valerio Verrea, limited to only 500 copies, is both an exceptional reading deck and a highly desirable collectible for enthusiasts of historical tarot traditions.

This historically themed Tarot de la Révolution, published in 1989 by Héron, is a unique artistic interpretation of the French Revolution. Each Major Arcana is paired with a key figure, event, or revolutionary symbol: the Arrest of Lavoisier (10), the Guillotine (13), the Death of Marat (18), and Bonaparte (21), among many others.
The four suits are represented by powerful emblems of the era — Sacred Heart of the Chouans, Tricolour Flag, Phrygian Cap, and Royal Fleur-de-Lys — creating a deck rooted in both symbolism and French historical identity.
