🪶 Collector's Note
Before modern detergents and optical brighteners, laundry blue was widely used throughout Europe to restore the brilliance of white fabrics by neutralizing yellow tones. The French company E. Daloz, based in Dole (Jura), became well known for its Bleu Parfumé Daloz, a perfumed laundry blue promoted as both effective and refined.
This beautifully printed box, dating from the early 20th century, reflects the elegant advertising style of the Belle Époque. Its references to the 1887 patent and the Grand Prix at the 1900 Paris Exposition illustrate how manufacturers proudly displayed awards and innovations to distinguish their products. Today, surviving examples are appreciated by collectors of French advertising, antique packaging, and domestic history.
