€1,290.00 EUR
A magnificent and very rare 19th-century French lotto game published by Léon Saussine, Paris, inspired by the timeless fables of Jean de La Fontaine.
This deluxe edition features a superb chromolithographed lid illustrated by Ludovic, depicting La Fontaine surrounded by his anthropomorphic characters—fox, donkey, lion, wolf, and more.
Inside, the box reveals 9 beautifully illustrated boards, each showing two fables at the top and eight numbered titles underneath (72 fables total).
The game also includes:
🔹72 small pink cards printed with the morals of each fable
🔹Two original cloth bags
🔹Period colored tokens
🔹Original printed rules (“Instructif. Intéressant. Facile à jouer.”)
The charm of this lotto lies in its educational twist: to win the jackpot, a player must recite the fable corresponding to the drawn moral—turning gameplay into both amusement and culture.
A rare survivor of French toy history, complete, expressive, and richly decorative.
🔹Dimensions: 37.5 × 29 × 4 cm
🔹Condition: Complete. Box shows expected age-related wear, rubbing and edge wear (see photos). Boards and cards are in very good antique condition. Tokens, bags, and printed rules all present—a remarkable find for collectors.
🪶 Collector’s Note
Games by Léon Saussine are among the most sought-after 19th-century French educational games.
Finding a complete “Jeu des Fables de La Fontaine” with all 72 moral cards, two cloth bags, tokens, and intact chromolitho lid is exceptionally rare.
A museum-worthy piece for collectors of antique games, early chromolithographs, or La Fontaine memorabilia.
€329.00 EUR
A rare and charming French bistro card game set dating from the Belle Époque period (c. 1890–1910), combining both cards and tokens in a clever red case.
🔹 Deck: Includes a 32-card Belote deck with classic French court cards ("Pallas", etc.). The cards show natural yellowing from age, with one card featuring a cut corner, but remain in good playable condition.
🔹 Tokens: 95 colorful wooden chips, printed with famous aperitif brands of the early 20th century such as Rossi, Martini, Cognac Bisquit. Each chip reflects the convivial atmosphere of French cafés.
🔹 Case: Wooden box covered in red textured material, embossed in gold with “Nécessaire de Jetons” and “Jeu de Cartes.”
The box includes:
- A lever system to easily lift the cards,
- Side buttons to unlock the lids,
- A betting slot on the top with side retrieval opening.
Dimensions: 15.5 × 9.5 × 4.5 cm
Condition: Overall very good for its age. Some wear to the box, consistent with use, but the mechanism and contents remain intact and functional.
A delightful collector’s piece, perfect for lovers of antique gaming accessories and the atmosphere of old French cafés.
🪶 Collector’s Note
More than a simple card game, this elegant Nécessaire de Jetons et Jeu de Cartes is a fascinating survivor from the golden age of French cafés and estaminets. Dating from around the turn of the 20th century, it reflects a time when card games were an essential part of daily social life, played in bistros, hotels, railway cafés, and private salons across France.
What makes this set particularly desirable is the combination of several collectible elements in one object: a period French card deck, a remarkable assortment of colorful advertising gaming tokens, and an ingenious mechanical case designed to store and dispense both. The advertising chips bearing names such as Martini, Rossi, and Cognac Bisquit offer a charming glimpse into the world of Belle Époque and early twentieth-century aperitif culture, when drinks manufacturers frequently sponsored gaming accessories and promotional items.
The clever spring-assisted card lift, locking side buttons, and betting slot transform the box into a miniature gaming station, illustrating the craftsmanship and ingenuity of French gaming accessories of the period. Few complete examples survive today with both the original cards and a substantial quantity of advertising tokens.
A rare and evocative piece that captures the atmosphere of old French cafés, where conversation, cards, and aperitifs accompanied long afternoons and evenings. Equally appealing to collectors of antique playing cards, advertising memorabilia, gaming accessories, and French social history.

SMIR (Société de Manufacture d’Industrie Récréative) was a respected French card and game publisher active during the 1970s–1980s. Their editions were often produced in collaboration or under license with Grimaud / France Cartes, sharing the same printing standards and card formats.
SMIR’s wooden box editions—like this one—were marketed as “luxury collector’s sets” and were often distributed in boutiques and gift shops rather than through gaming stores. They are now sought after by collectors for their fine packaging, traditional French craftsmanship, and connection to the golden age of postwar cardmaking in France.

An exceptionally rare collector’s item for astrology and astronomy lovers!
This stunning set of 36 gilded cards features the 12 zodiac signs alongside 24 additional constellations, reproduced from Astrophilogeon by Charles Hodges (ca. 1828). Hand-colored with exquisite detail and preserved in a velvet-like case, these cards are based on Urania's Mirror – a celestial classic from the 19th century.
Originally part of Hodges’ astronomical treatise, these illustrations combine scientific accuracy with mythological beauty. Whether you’re a vintage tarot collector, celestial cartography enthusiast, or connoisseur of historical ephemera – this is your chance to own a magnificent piece of stargazing history.
Cards are in very good vintage condition. Box included.
Hodges’ pack dealing with astronomy, the ‘Astrophilogeon’, was first published around 1828 in conjunction with a series of map cards. These astrological cards carried diagrams of constellations and their pictorial representations. These include the twelve Zodiac signs which is the name given to that part of the sky through which the sun travels during the year:
🪶 Collector's Note
Few card sets capture the romance of nineteenth-century astronomy as beautifully as these celestial cards. Derived from the work of Charles Hodges and inspired by the celebrated Urania’s Mirror tradition, they belong to a fascinating period when science, mythology, and art were inseparably linked.
During the early 1800s, astronomy was becoming increasingly popular among the educated public. Publishers responded by creating beautifully illustrated star maps and constellation cards that allowed enthusiasts to explore the heavens from their own homes. The figures depicted on these cards—Sagittarius, Perseus, Hercules, Argo Navis, and many others—represent not only astronomical constellations but also the ancient myths and legends that gave meaning to the night sky for centuries.
The combination of richly colored celestial imagery, Latin constellation names, and elegant gilded backs transforms this set into far more than a simple educational tool. It is a tangible reminder of an era when stargazing was both a scientific pursuit and a source of wonder.
Complete examples of these constellation card sets are seldom encountered today, making them highly desirable among collectors of antique astronomy, zodiac memorabilia, celestial cartography, historical playing cards, and Victorian scientific ephemera.
A remarkable opportunity to acquire a rare and visually stunning relic from the golden age of astronomical illustration.

This tarot deck blends traditional imagery with a spring palette and soft lines and natural inspirations of the Art Nouveau movement.
The artist Antonella Castelli explores traditional tarot themes using the sensuous, expressive Art Nouveau style. The beautiful men and women on these cards live in a lush world of color and grace. Each card shows one or two figures posed either partially nude or draped in flowing gowns.
The cards are are elegant, flowery and ornate, the minor arcana do show a distant influence from the Waite-Smith designs. People, which are the focus of the deck, are uniformly young and attractive.
Most of the minor arcana numbered cards show women, but men are represented in the court cards and majors. The appropriate number of suit symbols are shown in a rectangular box to the right rather than being incorporated into the scene. At the top of each card is its number and name in four languages with Italian at the bottom. Aces are numbered one. There is also a miniature version of this deck. The Art Nouveau Tarot is another deck in this style.

This Arts Divinatoires box set is a striking example of early-2000s esoteric publishing, when divination kits were conceived as immersive experiences rather than simple card decks. Vir Sapiens Dominabitur Astris – "The wise man will rule the stars."
A rare and evocative Italian oracle deck exploring astrology through 22 exquisite illustrations by Gaudium, printed by Lo Scarabeo under their Astrella imprint.
Each card represents one of the 12 zodiac signs or 10 planets, blending classical mythology and Renaissance sensuality into a symbolic astromantic system (Metodo Astromantico).
The original Italian instruction booklet describes the divinatory method created by Pasqual de Sola, designed to unveil the mysteries of the self through planetary archetypes.
🔹 22 cards – complete set (12 signs + 10 planets)
🔹 Illustrated by Gaudium – watercolor artwork
🔹 Original Italian guide included
🔹 Publisher: Lo Scarabeo / Astrella, Torino
🔹 Printed in Italy, late 1980s
🔹 Condition: Excellent vintage cards, box with light wear
🪶 Collector’s Note
This early Lo Scarabeo astrological oracle predates their modern tarot fame and stands as one of the most artistic zodiac decks ever made.

61 watercolor oracle cards – intuitive French divination deck – 1990s edition
Created in the late 1990s by Yves Buquet, a French esoteric author, and Isebies Chessex, a visionary painter, the Astrellia Tarot Divinatoire merges Jungian psychology and intuitive art.
Each watercolor blot becomes a mirror for the subconscious — revealing forms, faces, and messages unique to each reader.
🔹 61 cards (7 × 10 cm, square corners)
🔹 Languages: French & English
🔹 Includes instruction booklet with reading methods
🔹 Publisher: Astrellia, France
🔹 Condition: cards excellent; box shows light wear as pictured
Ideal for intuitive tarot, clairvoyance training, and shadow-work meditation. Long out of print — a rare collector’s deck for lovers of abstract or psychological oracles.
🪶 Collector’s Note
A bridge between art brut and divinatory science, this oracle invites projection and interpretation.
Each ink-like form acts as a Rorschach portal, guiding the reader through emotion, intuition, and hidden knowledge.
Collectors value it as one of the few French experimental tarots of the 1990s blending fine art and spiritual development.
€109.00 EUR
This game has been developed based on both the practice of divination from traditional astrology and the most recent discoveries and directions in karmic astrology.
This curious oracle was published by Dusserre. It is of course not a tarot at all despite its name. It has very thick cards but only 36, of which only 22 are illustrated ( 22? Something like tarot maybe after all!):
12 for the zodiac signs
10 for the planets
14 other cards ? Well, they indicate in texts two lunar nodes and the twelve astrological houses.
This game is obviously aimed at a mature adult audience who will appreciate a certain kind of androgynous male and female nudity.
The backs are decorated with a background of a calming blue sky with some clouds.
Condition: Very good as pictured.
Usual edition because the cards are very thick .
The included booklet is in French. Out of print edition, a rare find for collectors!
