The Tarot del Libro de Thoth is a rare and intriguing tarot deck based on the original design by famed cartomancer Jean-François Alliette, known as Etteilla, who created his own esoteric tarot in 1789. Unlike traditional tarot decks, this one organizes its 78 cards into symbolic groupings called “cuchillas” (blades), reflecting themes such as situations, figures, and people involved in them.
The cards are printed in French, with keywords like “MALADIE” (illness) and “LE MAGICIEN OU LE BATELEUR” (The Magician or The Juggler). Visually, the deck carries a vintage esoteric style, with imagery rooted in 18th-century interpretations of Egyptian mysticism.
