Bali’s Classical Wayang Playing Cards

Theatrical performance with puppets or human dancers. In 2003, UNESCO designated wayang kulit, a shadow puppet theater, as a “Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.”

The Jokers and court cards of the deck depict Hindu-Buddhist figures prominent in Wayang, and the pips are an embellished design. The faces of these cards can be seen at the World Web Playing Card Museum.

The deck has 52 cards, plus 2 Jokers. The cards are bridge size, measuring 88mm x 57mm, and are in the original box.
