A beautiful facsimile reproduction of the 1838 Jeu Romantique de Nanteuil, originally published by Montoux and illustrated in the spirit of Célestin Nanteuil (1813–1873) — one of the great Romantic artists of 19th-century France.
Nanteuil, a close collaborator of Victor Hugo, Théophile Gautier, and Alexandre Dumas, brought to his lithographs the poetic intensity and gothic elegance of the Romantic era, perfectly captured in this reissue by Éditions Dusserre (Paris, c.1976).
