Historical Tarot 1860 J. Gaudais - Ancient Tarot Deck
Description
Description
There are few information about the origin of this beautiful tarot deck published by Heráclio Fournier, in Spain.
Some sources said that this deck is a reproduction of an antique tarot deck created by J. Gaudais in Paris, France, in 1860. However, some other sources mention that this tarot deck was originally produced in Spain in Victorian times, the reason for its name, Tarot 1860.
In any case, this beautiful deck published by Fournier is a reproduction of an ancient tarot published in the XIX century.
The figures are reversible and the coloring of the cards was done using the stencil method.
The figures of JUNON and JUPITER on Arcana II and V replace those of the High Priestess and the Sovereign Pontiff.
On the ace of cups is the name and address of the maker.
The original is in the "Fournier" Card Games Museum in Victoria (Spain)
The deck has 78 cards (22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana).
The cards are in excellent condition.
The box has some wear but is in good vintage condition. See photos for more details.
