Aleister Crowley – Thoth Tarot Cards - White Box A, early 1980s

This is a very rare early U.S. edition of the legendary Thoth Tarot, designed by Aleister Crowley and painted by Lady Frieda Harris between 1938–1943 under Crowley’s guidance. Although created during WWII, the deck was only printed after both of their deaths, making every vintage edition a prized piece of tarot history.

This printing belongs to the sought-after “White Box A” series, distributed by Samuel Weiser (New York) and published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. around the early 1980s. It features:

• White O.T.O. box with red seal and gold inner sleeve

• Classic Rosy Cross back design

• Instruction booklet by James Wasserman, with essays by Lady Frieda Harris and commentary by Stuart R. Kaplan

• Copyright inside booklet: © 1978, 1983 Stuart R. Kaplan & Donald Weiser

• Printed in U.S.A. (not the earlier Hong Kong print run)

A full deck of 78 cards is included. Box shows some wear from age and storage, as pictured, while the cards remain in very good condition with vibrant colors.

• Condition: Very good overall, light storage wear on the box (mainly the gold inner box), cards show normal handling/ageing (see photos)

This edition is one of the most sought-after Crowley Thoth decks, highly prized by collectors, tarot historians, and occult practitioners.
