This remarkable deck is a faithful 2004 reproduction of the famous Jeu des 4 Saisons de l’An II (1793), originally published during the French Revolution by Jean-Baptiste Débène in Reims.
The historic deck replaced traditional royal figures with revolutionary allegories such as Fénelon, Boileau, Voltaire, Jeanne d’Arc, and seasonal workers symbolizing the new Republican order.

The cards combine revolutionary symbols, pastoral scenes, allegorical figures, and mottos celebrating Liberty, Equality & Fraternity — a perfect collector’s item for lovers of French history and antique playing cards.
