Unlike a classic 78-card tarot, the Mantegna Tarot consists of 50 allegorical engravings inspired by the humanist and cosmological vision of the Italian Renaissance.
Originally created around 1465–1470, the deck was likely produced in Ferrara or Venice and attributed to Andrea Mantegna, although its true authorship remains uncertain.
This edition by Lo Scarabeo faithfully reproduces the refined artwork of the original copper engravings. The cards are arranged in five groups of ten, reflecting the medieval hierarchy of the cosmos:
1️⃣ Human Conditions – social orders of mankind
2️⃣ The Muses & Apollo – artistic inspiration
3️⃣ The Liberal Arts & Sciences – paths of learning
4️⃣ The Virtues – moral foundations
5️⃣ The Heavenly Spheres – divine harmony
