The Avatar concept is the very cornerstone of Hindu theology. According to it, the Supreme Power manifests itself in animal or human forms on earth, with the divine mission of cleansing it of the periodically increasing evil.
The Avatar concept is closely related to the measurement of time in Hindu theology which has its basis on one working day of Brahma. According to the Bhagwat Purana, Brahma, the creator, is the causal effect of the predetermined periodic creation and dissolution of the universe.
Each creation or Kalpa is equal to one day and each dissolution or Pralaya is equal to one night in the life of Brahma. A Kalpa and a Pralaya last for 4,320 million human years each. Every Kalpa has 1000 cycles of 4 Yugas (ages). Each cycle of 4 Yugas is completed in 4,320,000 human years. The Yugas are called Satya, Treta, Dwapara and Kali.
The Avatars which are considered most significant are ten in number and they form the 'Dasha Avatar'. These ten avatars start with the form of a lowly fish and work up to the noble man, cast in the image of God. The fanciful find a parallel to Darwin's theory of evolution in the progression of these Avatars.
The Avatars enable the common folk to speak of or listen to stories of divine doings which is a simple way of proceeding towards Godhead; particularly in our Kali Yuga with its 'sick hurry and divided aims'.

Step into the psychedelic mysticism of the early 1970s with the Starmaiden Tarot, a visually striking and highly symbolic deck born from the avant-garde circles of German producer Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser.
Deeply influenced by the counterculture era, cosmic consciousness, and esoteric exploration, this deck embodies the spirit of a time when music, mysticism, and altered states of perception merged into a single artistic language.
Created around the enigmatic figure of “The Starmaiden” — inspired by Gille Lettmann — the deck channels celestial femininity, intuition, and higher awareness through bold, radiant imagery reminiscent of underground magazines and glam-era aesthetics. Think Bowie meets cosmic tarot.
This edition is a faithful facsimile reproduction printed in France, preserving the vivid colors and hypnotic geometry of the original 1970s Sternenmädchens Wahrsagespiel.

This deck emerges from a fascinating moment in esoteric history — where figures like Timothy Leary, psychedelic philosophy, and experimental music culture intersected with divination practices.
The Starmaiden archetype echoes the myth of Astraea, the celestial goddess of justice who ascended to the stars, symbolizing a lost golden age and the hope of its return.
A rare and evocative piece — both artifact and oracle.

Wonderful deck made by Edition Dusserre c.1984, based upon a series of grotesque, cyborg-esque engravings made in the 17th century by Nicolas de Larmessin, known as his “costumes des métiers” (“costumes of the trades.”) In these engravings, the various tradesmen and women are shown wearing clothes made of the tools and products of their respective professions. The originals of the engravings are housed in the Bibliothèque Nationale de Paris, and the court cards and Jokers of this deck are based upon them.

This uncommon tarot deck was created in 1976 by Italian designer Guido Bolzani, together with Gian-Piero Bolzani, through their design studio Archinstudio.
The deck presents a graphic reinterpretation of the Tarot de Marseille, blending traditional archetypes with a distinctly modern 1970s visual language. Clean lines, bold colors, and symbolic geometric compositions give the deck a unique aesthetic that reflects the experimental design culture of the era.
With 80 cards, this edition expands slightly beyond the traditional tarot structure and reflects the creative freedom typical of artist-designed tarot decks from the period.
🪶 Collector’s Note
The Tarocchi Archinstudio deck represents a fascinating moment in the history of tarot design during the 1970s European graphic design movement.
Guido Bolzani and Gian-Piero Bolzani were designers working through Archinstudio, producing several unusual card decks that blended graphic design, symbolism, and traditional playing card structures.
This tarot stands out for its minimalist, almost modernist reinterpretation of the Marseille tradition, replacing historical illustration styles with stylized forms and strong color compositions typical of 1970s Italian design.
Because the deck was produced in relatively limited numbers and distributed mainly in Italy, it remains quite difficult to find today, especially in such well-preserved condition.

Picini’s Tarocchi is a visual manifesto of Italian design modernism — vibrant, cerebral, and deeply symbolic.
Its synthesis of numbers, colors, and figures evokes the experimental language of Arte Povera and conceptual art.
Printed in limited quantity and distributed mainly through art galleries, this edition remains a cult collector’s piece, rarely seen outside Italy.

The Tarots de l’Imaginaire by Ferenc Pintér is one of the most poetic and artistic tarot decks ever published by Lo Scarabeo in its Tarots d’Arts collection.
Each of the 22 Major Arcana was originally painted in distemper on canvas, revealing Pintér’s refined use of light, gesture, and emotion.
The originality of this deck lies in its ability to create sensations through imagery — a visual language of emotion that reconnects with the historical origins of the Tarot.
Every card becomes a stimulus that awakens within us dreams, desires, reflections, and memories, merging surrealism with Renaissance allegory.
This 1991 edition, directed by Pietro Alligo, is now long out of print and has become a sought-after collector’s piece among lovers of art tarots and symbolic imagery.

About This Edition
Unlike ordinary tarot decks, this set was created as a cultural and artistic object linked to a unique immersive performance exploring the symbolism of the Major Arcana. Visitors to Forte Sperone encountered actors embodying each archetype of the tarot in a dramatic journey through the historic fortress.
The reported limitation to just 27 copies suggests that this edition may have been reserved for collaborators, sponsors, or a very small circle of participants, making it extraordinarily scarce.
🪶 Collector’s Note
A truly exceptional piece at the crossroads of tarot history, Italian theater, and fine art. Combining the visionary world of Emanuele Luzzati with the experimental spirit of Teatro della Tosse, this complete 1991 set stands among the rarest and most unusual tarot-related artifacts to surface on the market.
For collectors of Emanuele Luzzati, theatrical ephemera, and historically significant tarot editions, this is a museum-worthy acquisition.
A rare and highly collectible Tarocchi Marvel deck published in 1995 by Lo Scarabeo (Italy).
This unique edition features 22 Major Arcana cards only — the Minor Arcana were never produced for this project. Each archetype is represented by iconic Marvel characters, illustrated by renowned Italian comic artist Claudio Villa, with colors by Luca Poli.
The card backs display a striking double-ended illustration of Dr. Strange, reinforcing the esoteric-Marvel fusion concept.
The cards are oversized (approx. 5 3/8" x 2 7/8"), giving them strong visual impact and presence.
A fascinating crossover between tarot symbolism and 1990s Marvel comic art.

This is one of the more unusual tarot adaptations of the 1990s — produced during a period when Lo Scarabeo experimented with thematic art decks.

Its limited production, oversized format, and niche crossover appeal make it increasingly difficult to find in complete condition.
A true bridge between pop culture and esoteric symbolism.

A faithful Il Meneghello reproduction of the historic 18th-century Bologna tarot, originally printed by Giacomo Zoni. This 77 card deck(⚠️1 card missing!) captures the rustic charm of antique Italian tarots, complete with the traditional hand-spattered red dots that characterized original Bolognese cardmaking.
🔹 Publisher: Il Meneghello, Milan
🔹 Year: 1986
🔹 Edition: Limited to 2,500 numbered copies (your copy is hand-numbered)
🔹 Cards: 77 cards (⚠️ 1 card missing)
🔹 Card size: 10.8 × 5.8 cm

🔹 Design features: Rustic coloring and characteristic red spatter marks (historical decoration used to disguise wear and add liveliness)
🔹 Condition: Cards in excellent condition, box in excellent condition; Only one ribbon is slightly frayed (see photos).
A remarkable collector’s piece that preserves the aesthetics of 18th-century Italian tarots, perfect for tarot enthusiasts, historians, and collectors of Il Meneghello editions.
❓ Why the red dots on the cards?
Those red speckled dots you see on some cards are intentional printing marks, not stains. They replicate the original 18th-century Bologna cards:
In historical Italian cardmaking, especially in Bologna, “sprinkled” or “spattered” red dots were used as a cheap and quick way to add decoration to otherwise plain card surfaces.
The technique was called “spruzzatura” (spattering) or “schizzato”, done by flicking a brush loaded with pigment across the sheet.
It was both decorative (to make the cards more lively) and functional: it helped disguise dirt and wear, so the cards looked usable for longer.
Il Meneghello reproductions carefully preserve these marks to keep the authentic look of the originals.
So the dots are not flaws — they’re a characteristic feature of the Bologna tarot tradition.

The Tarocco Siciliano(from the 70s) is a tarot deck found in Sicily and is used to play Sicilian tarocchi. It is one of the three traditional Latin-suited tarot decks still used for games in Italy, the others being the more prevalent Tarocco Piemontese and the Tarocco Bolognese. The deck was heavily influenced by the Tarocco Bolognese and the Minchiate. It is also the only surviving tarot deck to use the Portuguese variation of the Latin suits of cups, coins, swords, and clubs which died out in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
