This richly illustrated 78-card deck artfully depicts traditional Tarot symbolism with classically costumed Japanese characters. The unique Japanese genre Ukiyoe reflects Buddhist ideas about the transience of the physical world.
The Japanese artist Koji Furuta masterfully captures the serene beauty of the “floating world” with scenes from everyday Japanese life. The Major Arcana depict well-known archetypal figures such as a Kabuki actor as a magician and a Buddhist monk as a hierophant (The hierophant or hierophant is the leader of the mystery cult and the most important priest in Greek religious culture).
The artist chose ancient Japanese symbols for minors: traditional swords, ceremonial scepters, lacquered cup bowls and coins from the Edo era.
The 78 sheets are numbered and titled in both English and Japanese. Artist Koji Furuta was personally selected by tarot guru Stuart Kaplan to combine the world of Japanese ukiyoe artwork with the traditional 78-card tarot deck.
The resulting images capture the delicate yet powerful ukiyoe style, while the final product is strikingly modern. On the other hand, this has always been the strength of Japanese art throughout the centuries. Ukiyoe is a perfect medium to convey the ancient wisdom of the Tarot. The magician, like a samurai, is ready for action. The High Priestess peeks out from behind her elaborate makeup and costume to let her callers know that their word is law. The hierophant looks sadly at his questioning students. Justice looks over her shoulder to make sure no one is left behind. And a bodhisattva waves from a celestial lotus as tombstones fall in judgment.

Discover a unique divinatory tarot, official adaptation of the Vampyria saga, by Victor Dixen.
“Reader, reader, you hold in your hands the Forbidden Tarot, centerpiece of the eternal battle between Light and Darkness, which extends into all worlds. This card game, banned by the King of vampyres, is a great tool for everyday life. Every path we take brings us closer to the Light or further away from it. Sometimes it is our own Darkness that must be faced in order to move forward. All this I will teach you here…”
The Eye of the Innocents.
Imagined by Victor Dixen, multi-award-winning novelist passionate about tarot, and Emmanuelle Iger, renowned tarologist, the Forbidden Tarot is aimed at both beginners and experts in the divinatory arts. These 86 cards, magnificently illustrated by Nicolas Jamonneau, reinterpret the ancestral structure of the Tarot de Marseille by drawing from the rich universe of baroque fantasy of the Vampyria saga (novels published by Robert Laffont).
The major mysteries of the Forbidden Tarot depict the legendary figure of the vampire, both fascinating and disturbing. The Minor Arcana celebrate human diversity through the army of vampire hunters.
The tarot is accompanied by a 96-page booklet to learn how to make your own prints and light your way, whether you have already read the novels or not.

Among the great occultists of the twentieth century, the immense figure of Oswald Wirth emerges. Healer, hermetic, astrologer, he was also the author of the "22 Arcana of the Kabbalistic Tarot" in which he wanted to bring together all the esoteric traditions of the world.
This new version, created according to Wirth's indications but with the addition of 56 illustrated Minor Arcana, completes the work he began.

The 78-card Xultun Tarot Codex Deck based on themes and imagery from the ancient Mayans. One of the most colorful and beautiful decks I've handled. Created by Peter Balin; Arcana Publishing, 1976. Includes full instruction pamphlet. Both box and cards are in excellent vintage condition.
The box is slightly scuffed on the edges, otherwise the box as well as the cards are in good condition. Comes with a small explanatory booklet.
From the accompanying booklet:
‘It is a Tarot deck based on the imagery of the ancient Maya with card titles in five languages (English, French, German, Italian and Spanish). A unique aspect of the Xultun Tarot is that all the cards of the major arcana (higher) join together to make one picture. The minor arcana (lower) divides into the court cards, 16 cards with persons represented on them: Lords, Ladies, Servants and Warriors.
The remaining 40 cards divide into four suits. The first, Staffs, tell on one’s spiritual aspirations, hopes and desires. The second, Swords, tell of the mental aspirations and capabilities. The third, Cups, deals with the emotions and their complications. The last suit, Jades, encompasses the physical existence of a person. In a spread, the reader is presented with an endless number of arrangements that combine accidental relationships.
It is in the observation of these relationships that the true work of the tarot is done….’.
A rare piece for collectors and connoisseurs.

Many astrologers today are trying to bring concepts of their science out of the archaic Victorian past and into the present and future. This trend is combined with one of the best planned Tarot decks ever. The Major Arcana cards associated with planets show people from a family on them: grandparents, parents, a son, daughter and baby. These family members appear later on the Minor Arcana cards. In astrology there are three qualities called quadruplicities (because each appears four times through the zodiacal signs). In the Majors, the Cardinal signs have images of daytime. The Mutable cards show images of sunrise or sunset. The Fixed signs show images of night.
The art on this deck is wonderful, covering the full spectrum from light to dark, happy to sad. This is highly appropriate due to the nature of astrological interpretation today. Modern astrologers often focus on contemporary concepts of psychological balance and understanding. Many of the meanings of the cards explained in the included booklet are associated with modern psychological theory. Therefore, be very careful when using this deck! Perhaps more than any other Tarot deck this can have a devastating impact on the people you read for.
As a benefit, most of the associations are linked to the astrological and Tarot associations of the famous Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Thus it is perfect for people trying to learn that system. Tarot, astrology and the Golden Dawn.
This deck contains 78 cards.
Cards measure approximately 6.5 x 11.5 cm
Cards are bilingual.
⚠️ No booklet comes with this Lo Scarabeo's version.
This version is not easy to come by.
Box is showing few signs of wear due to storage as pictured but cards are like new.

Zolar’s Astrological Tarot is one of the most distinctive and educational tarot decks of the mid-20th century. Designed as a true “four-in-one” system, it uniquely combines Minor Arcana, Major Arcana, zodiac symbolism, and playing card references into a single, highly accessible format. This configuration—finalized around 1964 and later published by U.S. Games Systems—became the most widely recognized and influential version of the deck. Valued both as a learning tool and a piece of American esoteric history, it reflects a period when tarot was entering popular culture through astrology, psychology, and self-discovery.
